About Siltepec
Siltepec is part of the beautiful state of Chiapas in Mexico. It's known for its natural landscapes and the communities that live there.
Population and Area
In 2010, the Siltepec municipality had a total of 38,143 people living there. This was more than the 32,457 people recorded in 2005. The area it covered was about 685.6 square kilometers. To give you an idea, that's roughly the size of a large city.
Changes to the Municipality
Since 2010, the size and population of the Siltepec municipality have changed. Some parts of its land were used to create two new municipalities. In 2017, a new area called Capitán Luis Ángel Vidal was formed. Then, in 2019, another new area called Honduras de la Sierra was created. This means Siltepec is now a bit smaller than it used to be.

- El Palmar Grande (with 1,127 people)
- Vega del Rosario (with 1,014 people)
These villages are mostly rural, meaning they are in the countryside rather than big cities.
