History of Simacota
Simacota has an interesting past. One notable event happened in 1965. At that time, a group called the National Liberation Army (ELN) entered the town. This was one of their first actions as a new group.
The 1965 Event
During this event, the ELN group caused some trouble in Simacota. They took items from the local bank and a pharmacy. They also had a conflict with the local police. The Colombian Army soon arrived and helped to make the group leave the town. This event was a significant moment in the early history of the ELN.
