Simbi Khali (born on April 28, 1971) is an American actress and singer. She is well-known for playing Nina Campbell on the TV show 3rd Rock from the Sun. She has also been in other TV shows and movies.

Simbi Khali's Early Life
Simbi Khali was born in Jackson, Mississippi. She was the youngest of seven children. When she was two years old, her family moved to Chicago. Simbi started singing when she was very young.
She became interested in acting at the ETA Creative Arts Foundation in Chicago. At age 15, she moved to Alabama. There, she felt her first "onstage rush" during a high school talent show.
For her last two years of high school, she moved to Washington, DC. She attended the Duke Ellington School of the Arts. This is where she decided to focus on acting. Simbi then went to the California Institute of the Arts. She graduated in 1993 with a degree in acting.
Simbi Khali's Acting Career
During her last year at Cal Arts, a talent agent saw Simbi perform. She was then signed by the agent. That summer, she worked with a group for Ben & Jerry's. They visited hospitals and charities, giving out ice cream. This job helped her have time to audition for roles.
Her first acting job was on the FOX sitcom Martin. From 1993 to 1997, she played Laquita on Martin. She was a friend to the character Sheneneh.
From 1996 to 2001, Simbi played Nina Campbell on the NBC sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun. At first, she was a recurring character. This means she appeared sometimes. But in season 3, she became a main character.
Simbi Khali has also appeared in movies. These include Vampire in Brooklyn and A Thin Line Between Love and Hate. She also acted in Plump Fiction. On stage, she performed in plays like Colored Museum and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
In voice acting, she is known for Varesh Ossa in the game Guild Wars Nightfall. She also voiced Amanda in Detroit: Become Human. In 2016, the Mississippi legislature honored Simbi Khali for her acting work.
Simbi Khali's Personal Life
Simbi Khali first met actor Cress Williams in 1994. They met again in 1999 while filming a movie called Masquerade. They got engaged within a month. They married in Malibu in the fall of 2000. They later divorced in 2011. Simbi has two children.
