Simbi Khali is an American actress and singer. She was born on April 28, 1971. Many people know her for playing Nina Campbell in the TV show 3rd Rock from the Sun.

Early Life and Education
Simbi Khali was born in Jackson, Mississippi. She was the youngest of seven children. When she was two, her family moved to Chicago. Simbi loved singing from a young age.
She found her passion for acting at the ETA Creative Arts Foundation in Chicago. At age 15, she moved to Alabama. There, she felt her first "onstage rush" during a high school talent show.
For her last two years of high school, she moved to Washington, D.C. She attended the Duke Ellington School of the Arts. Here, she focused on acting. Simbi then went to the California Institute of the Arts. She graduated in 1993 with a degree in acting.
Acting Career
During her final year at Cal Arts, a talent agent noticed Simbi. That summer, she joined a group that visited hospitals. They gave out ice cream samples. This job paid well and gave her time to audition. Soon, she got her first acting role.
Her first job was on the FOX sitcom Martin. From 1993 to 1997, she played Laquita on the show. From 1996 to 2001, she played Nina Campbell in the NBC sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun. She started as a recurring character. By season three, she became a main cast member.
In 2016, the Mississippi government officially recognized Simbi Khali's acting achievements. They praised her performances and characters.
