Simmie Hill, Jr. (born November 14, 1946 – died July 14, 2013) was an American professional basketball player. He was known for playing the forward position. Simmie stood at 6 feet 7 inches tall, which is about 201 centimeters. He played for several teams in the American Basketball Association (ABA) during his career.

Simmie Hill's Early Life and High School Basketball

Simmie Hill was born in a town called Midland, Pennsylvania. From a young age, he showed great talent in basketball. He attended Midland High School, where he became a star player.

High School Achievements

At Midland High School, Simmie played alongside another future basketball star, Norm Van Lier. During his final year, Simmie scored an amazing 652 points. He helped lead his team, the Midland Leopards, to win the Pennsylvania State Championship. This was a huge achievement for his school and community.

Simmie Hill's College Basketball Journey

After high school, Simmie Hill continued his basketball career in college. He played for a few different universities. He started at Wichita State University, where he played on the freshman team. Back then, first-year students could not play on the main varsity team.

Playing for Different Colleges

Simmie later played at Cameron Junior College. He then moved to West Texas State University. After his senior year in college, he was recognized as one of the best players in the country. The Sporting News newspaper named him a first-team All-American. This meant he was considered one of the top college basketball players.

After his successful college career, Simmie Hill became a professional basketball player. He joined the American Basketball Association (ABA). The ABA was a professional basketball league that existed from 1967 to 1976.

Playing in the ABA

Simmie played for four seasons in the ABA. He was a member of several teams during this time. These teams included the Los Angeles Stars, the Miami Floridians, and the Dallas Chaparrals. He also played for the San Diego Conquistadors and the San Antonio Spurs. Over his ABA career, Simmie Hill averaged 9.7 points per game. This shows he was a consistent scorer for his teams.
