Simon Dixon's Life Story
Simon Dixon moved to the Snow Camp, North Carolina area around 1750. He came from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He built a very successful gristmill. A gristmill is a place where grain is ground into flour. His mill kept working for a long time, even into the 1900s.
Simon Dixon believed in standing up against unfair taxes from the British government. He was part of a group called the Regulator Movement. This group wanted to "regulate" or fix the unfair ways the colony was run. He even signed a paper called the Regulator Advertisement.
He was also at the Battle of Alamance in 1771. This battle was a fight between the Regulators and the colonial government.
