Simon Harcourt was the son of a religious leader named Vere Harcourt and his mother, Lucy (whose maiden name was Thornton).

In 1677, Simon married his first wife, Elizabeth. Her parents were Sir Richard Anderson and Dame Elizabeth Anderson, who owned a big estate called Pendley Manor in Hertfordshire. This estate was located near a town called Tring.

Elizabeth passed away in 1694. Her parents had also passed away by 1699. After their deaths, Simon Harcourt inherited the large Pendley Manor estate.

Simon married a few more times during his life. His second wife was Elizabeth Canon, who passed away in 1706. Then he married another Elizabeth, whose maiden name was Morse, and she passed away in 1724. His last wife was Mary Harcourt, who was actually his cousin, the daughter of Sir Philip Harcourt.
