Simon van der Geest was born on February 12, 1978. He is a Dutch writer and poet. He is well-known for writing exciting books for children.
Simon's Writing Journey
Simon van der Geest started his career as a children's writer in 2009. His very first book for young readers was called Geel Gras.
He has won some really important awards for his books. One of the biggest awards he has received is the Gouden Griffel. This award is given to the best Dutch children's books of the year.
- In 2011, he won the Gouden Griffel for his book Dissus.
- In 2013, he won the Gouden Griffel again for his book Spinder.
- Also in 2013, Spinder won the Jan Wolkers Prijs. This award celebrates the best nature book.
- In 2016, his book Spijkerzwijgen received the Vlag en Wimpel award. This award is for books that are highly recommended.
In 2015, Simon wrote a special book called Per ongelukt!. This book was the Kinderboekenweekgeschenk. This is a gift book given out during the Kinderboekenweek, which is a special week in the Netherlands that celebrates children's books.
