Simona Gioli (born September 17, 1977) is a famous retired volleyball player from Italy. She was known for her powerful skills on the court, especially as a Middle Blocker. This position is for players who are experts at both attacking and blocking the ball right at the net.

Gioli was a star player for the Italian National Team. She helped her team win the gold medal at the 2007 European Championship. Because of her amazing talent, she was often given special awards. She was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of two major tournaments: the 2007 FIVB Women's World Cup and the 2009 FIVB Women's World Grand Champions Cup. An MVP award is given to the best all-around player in a competition.

Playing for Italy

From 1999 to 2012, Gioli proudly wore the jersey for Italy. She helped her team win many medals in big international competitions. One of her greatest achievements was winning the FIVB World Cup twice, in 2007 and 2011. She also led Italy to two gold medals at the European Championships.

Club Career

  • Later Career: After her time in Russia, she played for clubs like Galatasaray in Turkey and returned to Italy to play for teams like Metalleghe Sanitars Montichiari.
