Simpson has a short but interesting history. It was officially planned and marked out on a map in 1885. This process, called "platting," is like drawing the first blueprint for a new neighborhood or small settlement.

Soon after its founding, a post office was opened in Simpson in 1886. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for several years before it closed down in 1902.
