Sindiswa Dlathu (born January 9, 1974) is a talented South African actress and singer. She is widely known for her role as Thandaza Mokoena on the popular TV show Muvhango. She played this character from when the show started in 1997 until she left in 2017.
After leaving Muvhango, Sindi Dlathu took on a main role in the TV drama The River. In this show, she plays Lindiwe Dlamini-Dikana. Lindiwe is a strong woman who will do whatever it takes to protect her money and fancy lifestyle.

Sindi's Acting Journey
Sindi Dlathu started her acting career in a big way. She was chosen as the understudy for the main role in the stage musical Sarafina!. An understudy learns a role so they can perform if the main actor cannot.
Working on Sarafina!
For the movie version of Sarafina!, Sindi worked with famous actress Whoopi Goldberg. She also helped as an assistant choreographer for Michael Peters. A choreographer creates the dance moves for a show. In 1988, Sindi was the understudy for the second cast led by Seipati Sothoane. When the play went on tour, Sindi stayed behind. She then performed in another play called Township Fever from 1989 to 1990. She toured the United States with this play for a whole year.
Returning to School and New Roles
After four years with Mbongeni Ngema's Committed Artists group, Sindi went back to school. She finished her high school studies in 1996. In 1997, she returned to performing arts and stage plays. She was in a play called Game, which won an FNB Vita Award. In this play, she acted alongside respected actors like Mary Twala, Abigail Kubeka, and the late Nomhle Nkonyeni.

Sindi Dlathu has won many awards for her acting. She won the award for favorite actress at the 2020 DStv Mzansi Viewers' Choice Awards. As her character Lindiwe Dlamini-Dikana from The River, she also appeared in a special episode of The Queen. This was a "crossover episode," where characters from one show appear in another. In The Queen, she played a friend of the main character, Harriet Khoza - Sebata. In 2021, she won a SAFTA award for Best Actress for her role as Lindiwe in The River.
