Mary Kuksie Twala (born September 14, 1939 – died July 4, 2020) was a famous actress from South Africa. She was known for her amazing acting skills. In 2011, she was even nominated for a special award called the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. This showed how talented she was!

Mary Twala's Acting Career

Mary Twala acted in many South African TV shows and movies. She was a guest star in the first season of a popular show called Generations.

In 2007, she played a main role in a drama called Ubizo: The Calling. A few years later, in 2010, she had a supporting role in a movie named Hopeville. This movie won many awards at different film festivals. Mary Twala played a character called "Ma Dolly" in Hopeville. Her performance was so good that she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 6th Africa Movie Academy Awards.

After taking some time off for a medical procedure, Mary Twala returned to acting in 2015. She starred in the movie Vaya. In 2016, she was part of a big cast in a film called Comatose. This movie featured many top actors from across Africa. In 2017, she also had a supporting role in a sports movie called Beyond the River. Later that year, it was announced that Mary Twala would appear in a new TV drama series called The Imposter.

Mary Twala's Passing

Mary Twala passed away on July 4, 2020. She was 80 years old. Her funeral was held on July 9, 2020, in Soweto. Due to special rules at the time, only a small number of people could attend her funeral.
