Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Sir Archibald Campbell of Succoth, Lord Succoth, 2nd Baronet FRSE (born August 1, 1769 – died July 23, 1846) was an important Scottish lawyer and judge. He inherited a large country estate called Garscube House in 1823 after his father passed away. He rebuilt the house in 1827, with a design by William Burn. He also made the family's land even bigger by adding more areas like Cumlodden and Gartowhern.

Archibald was the son of Sir Ilay Campbell and Susan Mary Murray. He became a lawyer in 1791. Later, in 1809, he became a judge, which meant he was a Senator of the College of Justice. His special judicial title was Lord Succoth.

He was also a member of the Highland Society starting in 1792. On June 4, 1821, he was chosen to be a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. This was suggested by Alexander Maconochie.
