Sir John Mainwaring, 2nd Baronet (born May 8, 1656 – died November 4, 1702) was an English politician. He served in the English Parliament from 1689 until he passed away in 1702.

Sir John was the son of Sir Thomas Mainwaring, 1st Baronet from Peover Hall. His mother was Mary Delves. Her father was Sir Henry Delves, 2nd Baronet.

Becoming a Baronet and Member of Parliament

Sir John Mainwaring became the 2nd Baronet when his father died in 1689. A Baronet is a special title, like a knight, that can be passed down in a family.

In the same year, 1689, he was chosen to be a Member of Parliament (MP) for Cheshire. An MP is a person elected to represent an area in the country's government. Sir John held this important job until he died in 1702.

Family Life and Legacy

Sir John Mainwaring died when he was 46 years old. He was buried in a place called Over Peover.

He was married to Elizabeth, who was the oldest daughter of Roger Whitley. They had several sons and daughters. After Sir John's death, his oldest son who was still alive, Thomas, became the 3rd Baronet.
