John Wray was born in 1619. His father was Sir John Wray, 2nd Baronet. His mother was Grisella Bethell.

He went to Magdalene College, Cambridge, a famous university. He started there in 1635. He earned his Master of Arts (MA) degree in 1636.

A Role in Parliament

In 1654, John Wray became a politician. He was chosen to be a Member of Parliament. This meant he represented the area of Lincolnshire in the government. He served in the First Protectorate Parliament.

In December 1655, he became the 3rd Baronet. This happened when his father passed away.

Family and Later Life

Sir John Wray was married twice. His first wife was Elizabeth D'Ewes. They did not have any children together.

In 1661, he married Sarah Evelyn. She was the daughter of Sir John Evelyn. Sir John Wray and Sarah had one daughter. This daughter was his only child and heiress.

Sir John Wray passed away when he was 45 years old. He was buried in Glentworth, Lincolnshire, in October 1664. After his death, his cousin, Christopher, became the 4th Baronet. His wife Sarah later married Thomas Fanshawe, 2nd Viscount Fanshawe.
