Sir Robert Kingsmill, 2nd Baronet (1772 – 4 May 1823) was an important English landowner and politician. He inherited a special title called a "Baronet" and helped manage land and local government.

Who Was Sir Robert Kingsmill?

Sir Robert Kingsmill was born in 1772. His parents were Edward and Catherine Kingsmill. The family lived in a city called Belfast.

Early Life and Family

Robert had a famous uncle named Robert Brice Kingsmill. His uncle was a high-ranking officer, an admiral, in the Royal Navy.

In 1796, Robert Kingsmill married Elizabeth Newman. They had two daughters together. Their first daughter, Elizabeth Catherine, was born in 1797. Their second daughter, Anna Maria, was born in 1800.

Becoming a Baronet

Robert's uncle, the 1st Baronet, passed away in 1805. Because his uncle had no children, Robert inherited the special title. He became the 2nd Baronet in the Kingsmill family.

Life as a Landowner and Sheriff

After becoming a Baronet, Sir Robert moved to the family home in Sydmonton. This made him a very important person in the local area. He owned a lot of land there.

In 1811, he took on a big job. He became the High Sheriff of Hampshire. A High Sheriff was a very important local official. They helped keep the peace and made sure laws were followed.

Later Years and Legacy

Sad times came for Sir Robert. His wife, Elizabeth, died in 1817. The next year, in 1818, his youngest daughter, Anna Maria, also passed away.

After these losses, Sir Robert moved his home to Aston, in Gloucestershire. He later died in London on May 4, 1823. Sir Robert had no sons, so when he died, the Baronet title ended. His only surviving daughter, Elizabeth, married Sir John Kingsmill in 1824.
