Sir Walter Bagot, 3rd Baronet (born March 21, 1644 – died February 15, 1704) was an important person in England during the 1600s. He was a barrister, which is a type of lawyer, and also a landowner, meaning he owned a lot of land. When his father, Sir Edward Bagot, passed away in 1673, Walter became the 3rd Baronet of Blithfield Hall in Staffordshire. A Baronet is a special title, like a knight, that is passed down through families.

Early Life and Education

Walter Bagot was born in 1644. He went to a famous university called Christ Church, Oxford. After his studies, he trained to be a lawyer. In 1666, he officially became a barrister at a place called the Middle Temple. This meant he could practice law.

A Career in Parliament

Just like his father, Sir Walter Bagot became a Member of Parliament. An MP is someone elected to represent people in the country's government. He represented the area of Staffordshire, England. He served as an MP for many years, from 1678 until 1695.

Family Life

Sir Walter Bagot married Jane Salesbury in June 1670. They had a large family together. They had five sons and five daughters. When Sir Walter passed away, his son, Edward Bagot, became the next Baronet.

His daughters also married into important families:

  • His daughter Elizabeth married Henry Paget, 1st Earl of Uxbridge.
  • His daughter Jane married Morris Jones and later John Roberts, who was also a Member of Parliament.
  • His oldest daughter, Mary (1672-1727), married Sir George Parker, 2nd Baronet in 1692.
