Early Life and Family
William Carew was born around 1690 and was baptized on January 24, 1690. He was the second son of Sir John Carew, 3rd Baronet. His mother was Mary Morice, who was the daughter of Sir William Morice, 1st Baronet. The family lived in Werrington, Devon.
William became the 5th Baronet in his family on September 24, 1703. This happened after his older brother passed away. A baronet is a special title, like a knight, that is passed down through families.
Education
When he was about 18 years old, William Carew went to Exeter College, Oxford. He started his studies there on September 4, 1707.
Marriage and Home
On January 5, 1714, Sir William Carew married Lady Anne Coventry. Her father was Gilbert Coventry, 4th Earl of Coventry. Lady Anne was an "heiress," which means she inherited a lot of money or property.
After their marriage, Sir William began building a grand new home. This beautiful house is called Antony House and is located in Cornwall.
Political Career
Sir William Carew was a Member of Parliament (MP). An MP is a person chosen by voters to represent them in the House of Commons, where laws are made.
He first became an MP for the area of Saltash on January 17, 1711. This happened during a special election called a by-election.

Later Life
Sir William Carew passed away on March 8, 1744. After his death, his son, Coventry Carew, took over the family title as the 6th Baronet.
