Sisi (also written as SiSi) is a well-known brand of fruit-flavored drinks. These drinks are made by a Dutch company called Vrumona. Vrumona works together with Heineken International, a large beverage company. Sisi drinks are produced in Bunnik, a town in the Netherlands.

The Story of Sisi

How Sisi Started

The story of Sisi began in 1936. A person named George Becht created a grapefruit-flavored drink called Ja-Ja. Just one year later, in 1937, he launched an apple-flavored drink. This apple drink was given the name si si.

George Becht passed away in 1949. His son, Cornelius, then took over the company. Cornelius decided to use the "si si" name for other similar drinks made by Vrumona.

Sisi's Flavors Over Time

Between 1951 and 1969, Vrumona had several drinks with similar names. These included Cas-Si, which was blackcurrant flavored. There was also Ceri-Se, a cherry drink, and Grapy, which tasted like grapefruit.

In 1969, the name "si si" was changed to one word: Sisi. The other fruit drinks were also brought under the Sisi brand. So, Cas-Si became SiSi cassis (blackcurrant). Ceri-Se became SiSi Cerise (cherry), and Grapy became Sisi grapefruit.

Later, in 1987, these specific Sisi flavors were sold to another company. They were then relaunched under a different brand name, Royal Club.

Sisi in Advertisements

Sisi on Radio and TV

Sisi has a history of fun advertisements. In 1957, a famous singer from the Netherlands, Wim Sonneveld, sang the company's first jingle. A jingle is a short, catchy song used in advertising. He sang it on Radio Luxembourg. The jingle was about "ome Daan the Si-Si-liaan."

In the early 1970s, Sisi also appeared on television. In 1972 and 1973, two well-known Dutch actors, John Kraaijkamp sr. and Rijk de Gooijer, starred in some TV commercials for the brand.

Sisi's Slogans

Since the early 1990s, Sisi has used a famous slogan: "Take it easy, take a SiSi." A slogan is a short, memorable phrase used in advertising.

In more recent years, Sisi has also focused on how much sugar is in its drinks. The company has advertised that its products have half as much sugar as similar drinks from other brands. This is a way to show that Sisi can be a good choice for those who want less sugar.
