Skaraborg County (Swedish: Skaraborgs län) was a special area in southern Sweden. It was like a big region with its own leader. The main city, or "seat," was first in Skara. Later, in 1660, it moved to Mariestad.
This county was created a long time ago in 1634. It existed for many years until December 31, 1997. On that day, it became part of a new, larger area called Västra Götaland County.
