Sean Michael Daley (born September 7, 1972), known by his stage name Slug, is an American rapper from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is most famous as one half of the hip-hop group Atmosphere. Slug started this group with Derek Turner (Spawn). Later, Anthony Davis (known as Ant) became the producer for Atmosphere, working with Slug. In 1995, Slug, along with Anthony Davis, Musab Saad, and Brent Sayers, created an independent hip-hop record label called Rhymesayers Entertainment in Minneapolis.

About Slug

Sean Michael Daley, or Slug, was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on September 7, 1972. His parents are Valerie and Craig Daley. Slug has a mixed background, including Irish, Norwegian, African-American, and Native American roots. His nickname "Slug" came from his father, who was called "Sluggo" by his friends. So, Sean became "little Sluggo," which he later shortened to "Slug."

When the group Atmosphere first started, Slug was often the DJ behind the scenes. Another artist named Spawn handled the rapping. Over time, Slug and Anthony Davis (Ant) became good friends and started making music together. They joined forces with other artists like Musab and groups such as Black hole. Together, they formed a crew in the mid-1990s called Headshots. Slug appeared on their underground tape series.

Slug also worked on other cool music projects. He formed a group called Felt with his friend and fellow rapper, MURS. He was also part of groups like The Dynospectrum and Deep Puddle Dynamics. Slug is also a member of a group of artists called The Orphanage. This group includes rappers like Aesop Rock, Illogic, Eyedea, and Blueprint.

In 2005, Slug and MURS started their own record label called Women Records. They used this label to release albums for rock bands that they were friends with. Women Records was set up as a smaller part of Rhymesayers Entertainment.

Music by Slug

Slug has released many albums and EPs (shorter albums) with his main group, Atmosphere. Some of their studio albums include God Loves Ugly, Seven's Travels, and When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That ... Gold. They have continued to release new music regularly, with albums like Fishing Blues and Mi Vida Local in recent years.

Besides Atmosphere, Slug has also released music with other groups:

  • Deep Puddle Dynamics: They released one album called The Taste of Rain... Why Kneel? in 1999.
  • Dynospectrum: This group released their self-titled album in 1998.

Slug has also worked with many other artists on their songs. He has appeared on tracks by Aesop Rock, Brother Ali, Sage Francis, Evidence, and many more. These collaborations show how much he is respected in the hip-hop community.
