Sobremunt is a small town, also called a municipality, located in Catalonia, Spain. It is part of a region known as the comarca of Lluçanès.

Where is Sobremunt?

Sobremunt is located in the northeastern part of Spain. It's in the Barcelona province, which is part of the larger Catalonia region. Catalonia is one of Spain's 17 "autonomous communities."

A Bit of History

For a long time, Sobremunt was part of a different comarca called Osona. A comarca is like a county or a district in Catalonia.

In 2015, the people of Sobremunt voted on a plan. They wanted to join a new comarca called Lluçanès. However, this plan didn't get enough support at first, so it was put on hold.

But things changed! In 2023, Sobremunt officially became part of the new Lluçanès comarca. This means it's now grouped with other towns in that specific region.

Local Government

Like all municipalities, Sobremunt has a local leader. This leader is called the Mayor. In 2015, the mayor of Sobremunt was Albert Güell Vallbona. The mayor helps make decisions for the town and its people.
