Sofía Acedo Reyes was born in Melilla, a Spanish city located on the coast of North Africa. After finishing school there, she moved to Granada, another city in Spain. In Granada, she went to university and studied Sociology. Sociology is the study of how people live together in groups and societies.
Becoming a Politician
Sofía Acedo Reyes became interested in politics early on. In 2008, she was listed as a possible candidate for the Senate with the People's Party (PP). This is one of the main political parties in Spain.
In 2011, she was elected as a deputy in the Assembly of Melilla. This is like being a local representative for her city. She helped make decisions for Melilla.
