The Somali Regional State is a large area in Ethiopia. It is located in the eastern part of the country. The capital city of this region is Jijiga. This region is home to many Somali communities.

Geography and Size
The Somali Regional State is one of the biggest regions in Ethiopia. It covers about 327,068 square kilometers. This makes it a very large area, similar in size to some countries. Most of the region is dry and has a lot of open land.
How the Region is Organized
Like other regions in Ethiopia, the Somali Region is divided into smaller parts. These parts are called administrative zones. There are eleven main zones and six special administrative zones.

These zones are further divided into even smaller areas called districts. This helps manage the region more easily.
Population
As of 2019, over 10 million people live in the Somali Regional State. Most of the people living here are Somalis. They speak the Somali language.
