"Some Enchanted Evening" is the thirteenth and final episode of the first season of The Simpsons. It first aired on the Fox network on May 13, 1990. Even though it was the first episode ever made, it became the season finale. This happened because there were many animation problems that needed fixing.
In this episode, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie meet a character known as the "Babysitter Bandit". Homer and Marge want to enjoy a night out. They need someone to watch their children. So, they hire Ms. Botz from a babysitting service. Ms. Botz turns out to be the "Babysitter Bandit". She tries to restrain Bart and Lisa and take things from the family's home.
The episode includes parts that remind viewers of famous films. These include "The Night of the Hunter" and "Psycho". There is also a musical reference to "A Star Is Born". People had different opinions about the episode. Some thought it was the best of the season. Others believed it was the worst.

Episode Story
The story begins with Homer and Marge having a disagreement. Marge calls a radio show to talk about their problem. The host tells Homer to take Marge out for a special evening. Homer agrees and plans a romantic night.
Finding a Babysitter
Homer and Marge decide to hire a babysitter. They call the "Babysitter Placement Service". A woman named Ms. Botz arrives to watch Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. Ms. Botz seems very strict. She makes the children watch a boring ballet show on TV.
The Babysitter Bandit
Bart and Lisa soon realize something is wrong with Ms. Botz. They see a TV news report about a criminal called the "Babysitter Bandit". The picture of the bandit looks exactly like Ms. Botz! The children become very scared.
Ms. Botz then tries to tie up Bart and Lisa. She plans to steal things from their house. But Bart and Lisa manage to escape. They work together to outsmart her. They even tie her up themselves!
Homer and Marge Return
When Homer and Marge come home, they find Ms. Botz tied up. Homer unties her without knowing who she really is. He thinks she is just a bad babysitter. Ms. Botz quickly runs away from the house.
The police arrive shortly after. They explain that Ms. Botz is the "Babysitter Bandit". Homer is confused. The police then arrest Homer because they think he helped the bandit escape. Marge has to explain everything to the police. Homer is finally released. The family is safe, but their special night out was certainly memorable!
Making the Episode

Animation Challenges

Critical Opinions
Some critics praised the episode. They thought it was funny and a good way to end the season. Others found it to be one of the weaker episodes.
