Sonya Balmores was born in Hawaii. Her father is Filipino. Her mother has Irish and Native American family roots. Sonya went to Kalaheo Elementary School. She later graduated from Kauai High School. She studied visual communications at Hawaii Pacific University.
Sonya's Modeling Career
Sonya won the Miss Hawaii Teen USA title. This happened on May 16, 2004. The event was at the Waikiki Sheraton Resort. Sonya then represented Hawaii in the Miss Teen USA 2004 pageant. This big competition was held in Palm Springs, California. It took place on August 6, 2004. Sonya finished as the first runner-up. Shelley Hennig from Louisiana won the pageant. This was the best result for Hawaii since 1985. That year, Kelly Hu won the title.
In 2005, Sonya appeared on magazine covers. She was on Women's Health magazine. She also appeared on Outside and Foam magazines.
Sonya's Acting Career
Sonya Balmores played a main role in the TV series Beyond the Break. She played the character Kai Kealoha. This show was on The N channel.
