The Sosa–Carrillo–Fremont House: A Historic Home
When the house was first added to the National Register in 1971, it was called the John Charles Fremont, Casa del Gobernador, House. "Casa del Gobernador" means "House of the Governor" in Spanish. This name showed its link to Governor Frémont.
Why the Name Changed
Later, the official name was changed to Sosa–Carrillo–Fremont House. This new name helps us remember more people. It shows the house's connection to several important families from the area's history. These families helped shape the region.
