South Deering, Chicago facts for kids

South Deering is a really big neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois. It's located on the far South Side of the city. In fact, it's the largest of the 77 official community areas that make up Chicago!

South Deering is also part of the 10th Ward. A "ward" is like a section of a city, and it has a leader called an alderman. For a while, a well-known alderman named Edward Vrdolyak represented this area.
