London & South Eastern Railway Limited, known as Southeastern, is a company that runs trains in southeast England. It operates train services for passengers in areas like Greater London, most of Kent, and parts of East Sussex.
Southeastern started running trains on 1 April 2006. It took over from another company called South Eastern Trains. Southeastern was given a special agreement, called a franchise, to operate these train services. This agreement is known as the Integrated Kent Franchise (IKF).

What Southeastern Does
Southeastern is a train operating company. This means it is responsible for running passenger trains on specific routes. It makes sure trains run on time, sells tickets, and keeps stations safe and clean.
Where Southeastern Operates
Southeastern's trains connect many towns and cities in the southeast of England. Their routes cover:
- Greater London: This includes many parts of London, especially the southeast.
- Kent: Most of the county of Kent is served by Southeastern trains.
- East Sussex: Some areas in East Sussex also have Southeastern services.
These routes are important for people who travel to work or school every day. They also help people visit friends and family or explore different places.
Southeastern's Train Fleet
Southeastern uses different types of trains to carry passengers. One common type is the Class 375, which you can often see on their routes. They also have faster trains, like the Class 395 "Javelin" trains. These Javelin trains are special because they can travel on the High Speed 1 (HS1) line. HS1 is a dedicated railway line that allows trains to go much faster than on regular tracks.
Stations Served
Southeastern manages and serves many railway stations. They operate services to 173 stations. In total, their trains stop at 179 stations across their network. These stations are important hubs where people can get on and off trains.
