The Southport Air Show is an exciting yearly event. It takes place in Southport, Merseyside, England. This amazing show has been happening since 1991. Mark Brammar, who worked for Tourism & Attractions, first thought of the idea.
This popular air show lasts for two days. It usually happens at the end of summer. Thousands of people come to watch. They see many different aircraft flying high above Southport. There are also cool displays right on Southport beach. It is the biggest air show in the North West of England!

What You Can See at the Show
The Southport Air Show features a wide range of aircraft. You can see military planes and civilian aircraft. There are also classic jets and helicopters. The world-famous Red Arrows perform amazing aerobatic stunts. You might also spot old warplanes. Parachute teams often put on thrilling displays too.
Model Aircraft Fun
Before the main air show begins, there's more to see. The Southport Model Aero Club usually shows off. They fly incredible model aircraft. It's a great warm-up for the big show!
More Than Just Planes
The air show offers lots of activities on the ground. You can visit different trade stands. There are also interactive displays. These displays are fun and educational. You can even try out flight simulators! Plus, there are special activities just for kids.
Beach Battle Display
A big highlight is the military display. It includes a pretend battle on the beach. Army reserve forces take part in this dramatic show. They use military vehicles and even create explosions! It's a very exciting part of the event.

Eurofighter Typhoon in 2009
In 2009, a Eurofighter Typhoon jet flew at the show. This modern aircraft is very fast and powerful. It was an exciting addition for visitors to see.
Weather Challenges in 2010
The 2010 Southport Air Show started on Saturday, September 18. The Red Arrows performed that day. However, the Sunday performances were cancelled. This was because of bad weather. Heavy rain caused flooding at the show site.
Battle of Britain Memorial Flight
In 2011, the show featured the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. This group flies historic planes. They honor those who served in World War II. Seeing these classic aircraft is a special experience.
Final Flight of Vulcan XH558
The 2015 show had a very memorable moment. It was the last time the famous Vulcan XH558 bomber flew at the air show. This powerful plane made its final appearance. It even flew with the Red Arrows in a special formation. This was the last time these two iconic aircraft flew together.
