Speed Badminton is a fun and fast sport that mixes parts of badminton, squash, and tennis. It's also known as Speedminton. Unlike regular badminton, you play Speed Badminton without a net. This makes the game much quicker!
People play Speedminton all over the world. There are about 3,000 players who compete in international games. Around 2 million people enjoy playing this sport for fun.
How to Play Speed Badminton
One of the coolest things about Speed Badminton is that you don't need a net. This means you can play it almost anywhere! You can set up a game on a tennis court, a street, a beach, a field, or even in a gym.
The playing area is made of two squares. Each square is 5.50 meters (about 18 feet) long. These squares are placed opposite each other, with a distance of 12.8 meters (about 42 feet) between them.
Tournaments and Organizations
Speed Badminton has many tournaments happening all over the world. More and more clubs are being created to organize these games. In some countries, there are even special groups for the sport. For example, Germany has the German Speed Badminton Association (DSBV). Switzerland has the Swiss Speed Badminton (SSB).
On August 25, 2011, a big international group was started in Berlin, Germany. This group is called the International Speed Badminton Organization (ISBO). It helps to manage and promote the sport around the globe.
