Sperry, Missouri facts for kids
Sperry is a very small place located in Adair County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. It's known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's not a city or town with its own local government, like a mayor or city council. Instead, it's just a group of homes and a few businesses in a specific area. Today, Sperry is home to only a few houses and one business that sells fences.
A Look Back at Sperry's History
Sperry once had its own post office. This important building opened in 1883, which was a long time ago! People living in the area used the post office to send and receive their letters and packages. However, the post office eventually closed down in 1907. The name "Sperry" itself wasn't first used in Missouri. It was actually brought here from another place called Sperry, which is located in Michigan.
