The Story of Spindrift

The company was started in 2010 by a dad named Bill Creelman. He wanted to create a tasty drink for his family that was healthier than sugary sodas. He named the company "Spindrift," which is a word for the spray that comes off the top of an ocean wave.

From Soda to Sparkling Water

When Spindrift first started in Charlestown, Massachusetts, it sold a line of sodas. These drinks were made with real fruit and sweetened with cane sugar. The first flavors included grapefruit, orange, mango, lemonade, and blackberry.

A couple of years later, in 2012, Spindrift began selling seltzer, which is bubbly water with flavor. By 2016, the company decided to focus only on its seltzer drinks, which they renamed "sparkling water." They stopped making the original soda line and gave their cans a fresh, new design.

Growing Bigger

Spindrift quickly became very popular. Between 2016 and 2018, the company's sales grew by an amazing 800%. This means they were selling a lot more drinks than before!

To keep up with demand, the company received money from investors to help it grow. This allowed Spindrift to sell its drinks in more stores across the country, including big names like Kroger, Starbucks, and Whole Foods.

In 2024, Spindrift did something fun to announce new flavors. They created a funny online video series called "Squeezed: A True Crime Podumockery." At the end of the series, they revealed two new flavors: Grapeade and Island Punch.
