Spine Chillers facts for kids
Spine Chillers was the name of two different TV shows. Both were about supernatural stories and were shown on the BBC in the United Kingdom.
The 1980s Spine Chillers Show
The first Spine Chillers was a British children's TV series from 1980. It was shown on BBC1. The team who made the popular children's storytelling show, Jackanory, also created this series.
This show featured actors reading classic ghost and horror stories. These stories were chosen to be exciting for older children. Each episode was quite short, lasting about 10 minutes. There were 20 episodes in total. Some of the well-known authors whose scary tales were read included H. G. Wells and M. R. James.
The 2003 Spine Chillers Show
Later, another British TV series also used the name Spine Chillers. This version came out in 2003 and was shown on BBC Three. It was made for older viewers, not children.
This series was a mix of horror and comedy. It was an "anthology" show, which means each episode told a completely different story with new characters. The first season of this Spine Chillers had six episodes.
