Park History and Growth

Splash Lagoon has grown a lot since it first opened. In 2004, the park planned to add two new slides. These slides, called Python Plunge (a tube slide) and Shark Attack (a body slide), opened in 2005. On February 25, 2008, Splash Lagoon announced they would be adding a wave pool. After years of planning, the huge 30,000 square feet (2,800 m2) Wild Waters Wave Pool opened on September 17, 2011. This made Splash Lagoon the third largest indoor water park in the country at that time! In the same year, the Treetops Indoor Rope Course also opened, adding more adventure to the park.
