History of Splash in the Boro
How the Park Started
The idea for a family water park in Statesboro came from Mike Rollins. He was the director of the Parks and Recreation Department. Mr. Rollins was worried about how much it cost to run the old swimming pools. He believed the county could build a water park that would pay for itself.
Building the Park
The plan for the water park was part of a special sales tax vote in 2002. People voted yes to use $4.5 million for the park. Splash in the Boro opened its doors in 2004.
Park's Success and Growth
In its very first summer, 90,000 people visited the park! This was much more than anyone expected. Because it was so popular, Splash in the Boro added more fun things in 2009. This $4 million expansion made the park even bigger and better.

Water Fun for Everyone
The park has many different water areas to enjoy. There is an 800-foot long pool that feels like a river. This "lazy river" goes all around the other play and leisure pools. You can float along and relax!
Year-Round Swimming
Splash in the Boro also has a 25-meter lane pool for swimming laps. There is also a very large 24,000 square foot heated therapy pool. These special pools are open all year long. A portable dome structure covers them when it gets cold outside.
Other Park Features
The park also has places to buy snacks and drinks. There are seating areas where you can eat. You will also find restrooms with family changing areas and lockers for your belongings.
