Sporting Hill's History
Sporting Hill is famous for a small but important battle during the American Civil War. On June 30, 1863, the Skirmish of Sporting Hill happened here. This battle was the northernmost fight of the entire war. It was part of the larger Gettysburg Campaign, which led to the Battle of Gettysburg a few days later.
