Spree (candy) facts for kids
Spree is a yummy candy known for its tangy, fruity flavors. It's made by the The Willy Wonka Candy Company, which is a brand owned by the Ferrara Candy Company. This company is part of a bigger company called Ferrero SpA. Spree was first created in the mid-1960s by the Sunline Candy Company. An employee named John Scout had the idea for this fun candy! Later, in the 1970s, the brand was bought by Nestlé. They started selling Spree under the popular Willy Wonka brand.
Spree candies are small, round, and very colorful. They have a hard, crunchy shell with a fruity taste. Inside, they are made of a sweet, pressed sugar. You can find Spree in different sizes. Sometimes they come in rolls that weigh about 141.7 grams (5 ounces). Other times, you might see them in thin cardboard boxes, like the ones you get at a movie theater, weighing about 141.7 grams (5 ounces). The candy is often described as "a kick in the mouth" because of its bold flavors!
There's also a different kind of Spree called Chewy Spree. These candies have a hard shell on the outside, but a soft, chewy center. Chewy Spree often comes in pouches that weigh about 340 grams (12 ounces). There's even a Mini Chewy Spree, which is smaller and comes in a dispenser. The Chewy Spree Mixed Berry flavor was stopped in 2015.
