Springdale Farms is a special family-owned farm and market. You can find it on Springdale Road in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA. Back in 1999, it was the very last working farm left in Cherry Hill!
The Story of Springdale Farms
Springdale Farms started way back in 1949. A man named Alan Ebert bought the land. At that time, most of Cherry Hill was covered in farms.
After Alan passed away, his wife Mary and their children kept the farm going. It was a big farm, about 100 acres!
Changes Over the Years
In 1988, a fire damaged the farm's main retail building. It was a large building, about 3,800 square feet.
Later, in 1998, the road next to the farm, Springdale Road, was made wider. It changed from two lanes to four lanes. This project took some of the farm's land. It also made it harder for customers to visit because of detours.
Growing and Protecting the Farm
Even with these challenges, the farm grew! In 1999, Springdale Farms added three new greenhouses. These greenhouses cover 9,600 square feet. They are used to sell fresh produce, tasty baked goods, crafts, and other farm products.
In 2006, the farm put up a fence. This was to help protect their crops from deer. Many deer live in the woods around the farm.
Springdale Farms continues to be an important part of the Cherry Hill community. It helps people connect with where their food comes from.
