Eastbound Florida State Road 207 entering Spuds.

Spuds is a small community located in St. Johns County, Florida. It's not an official city, but rather a place where people live and work together. The economy in Spuds mainly relies on farming, especially growing lots of potatoes. Besides potatoes, you can also find beautiful gladioli flowers growing in the fields around Spuds. During World War II, a camp was built here to hold German prisoners of war. This camp was located close to where two important roads, State Road 206 and State Road 207, cross paths.

Where is Spuds Located?

Spuds is found at coordinates 29.7394 degrees North and -81.4717 degrees West. It's near the meeting point of State Road 207 and County Road 13. State Road 207 stretches six miles southwest to the town of Hastings. It also goes 25 miles northeast to the historic city of St. Augustine. A long time ago, a train track from the Florida East Coast Railway used to run through Spuds. This track connected St. Augustine to Palatka, and there was even a train stop called Spuds. Today, this old railway line has been turned into a fun path called the Palatka-to-St. Augustine State Trail, perfect for walking or biking!
