Their Music Journey
Hit Songs and Awards
One of their popular songs was "Take Me Like I Am." It was written in 1988 by Peter "Spunk" Willis and Sterling Jarvis. The song became popular by accident in California in 1990. Radio stations started playing it a lot! "Take Me Like I Am" was even nominated for two big awards at the 1991 Juno Awards. These awards celebrate the best music in Canada.
Another hit song, "Boomerang," was on the Billboard charts for eight weeks in 1991. It reached number 47, which is pretty high! It also appeared on the RPM Top Singles chart in Canada, reaching number 84.
Movie Soundtracks
Spunkadelic also became well-known for their song "9.95." This song was part of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie soundtrack in 1990. They also had another song called "Creatures of Habit" on the next movie's soundtrack, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II The Secret of the Ooze in 1991.
Their Album
In 1991, the group released their album called Spunk Junk. Even though the album didn't get a lot of attention, one song from it, "Wherever U R," was on the RPM Top Singles chart for two weeks. It reached number 60.
