St. Ann's Episcopal Church is a very old church building in Richford, Vermont, in the United States. It was built way back in 1883. This church is special because it mixes two cool building styles: Queen Anne and Gothic Revival.

On March 12, 2001, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This means it's an important historical site. Even though it's a church building, it's not used for church services anymore. Instead, a local history group is working to fix it up.

About St. Ann's Church

St. Ann's Church is located near the main part of Richford, at the corner of Church and Town Streets. When it was first built, it faced a different street. But in 1903, the whole building was turned 90 degrees to face the way it does now!

Its Unique Look

The church is a long, narrow building made of wood. It has a steep roof and a strong stone base. The outside of the church is covered in vinyl siding, which was added later.

A tall, square tower sticks out from one corner. This tower has a bell area and a pointy steeple on top. It's a really noticeable part of the church's design.

Inside the Church

When you go inside St. Ann's, you can see its Gothic style. The walls and floors are made of wooden boards that have a warm, smoky color. The roof is held up by five big, arched wooden supports. These arches give the inside a grand and old-fashioned feel. There's also a large, colorful stained-glass window at the back of the church.

Church History

The Episcopal Diocese of Vermont built St. Ann's Church in 1883. They noticed that Richford didn't have many churches, and other attempts to start congregations hadn't worked out. The church was officially dedicated in 1894. This happened after all the money owed for building it was paid off.

The church did well for many years, especially during the time of the First World War. But after that, fewer people attended. Today, the church building is rented out by the diocese to the local historical society. This group is working hard to restore the old building and keep its history alive.
