St Mirren Park, also known as "Greenhill Road", is a football stadium. It is located in Paisley, Scotland. This stadium is the home ground for the St. Mirren FC football team. It can hold 8,023 people, and all seats are available for fans.

History of St Mirren Park

Before this stadium, St. Mirren FC played at an older stadium. It was called Love Street. That stadium was also known as St. Mirren Park. The club sold Love Street to a supermarket called Tesco. The money from this sale helped build the new, modern stadium.

When Did the New Stadium Open?

The new St. Mirren Park officially opened on January 31, 2009. The club chairman, Stewart Gilmour, and Scotland's First Minister, Alex Salmond, were there. They opened the stadium before the very first football match.

First Match and Record Attendance

The first game at the new stadium was between St Mirren and Kilmarnock. The match ended in a 1–1 draw. The first goal scored at the new stadium was by Kilmarnock's player, Kevin Kyle. Later in the same game, Dennis Wyness scored St. Mirren's first goal. The opening match had 7,542 fans. This is still the highest number of people to attend a game at the stadium.

Home for Scotland's Young Team

St. Mirren Park has also become a regular home. It hosts games for the Scotland national under-21 football team. This team is made up of young Scottish football players.

Stadium Design and Seating

The stadium has four main sections, called stands. Together, these stands can hold 8,023 people. The North Stand is usually for fans of the visiting team. If many away fans come, part of the West Stand can also be used for them.

  • Main Stand (Greenhill Road) - This stand can hold 2,220 people.
  • West Stand (Craigielee Drive) - This stand can hold 2,516 people.
  • North Stand (Ferguslie Park Avenue) - This stand can hold 1,633 people. It is often used for visiting team supporters.
  • South Stand (Drums Road) - This stand can hold 1,654 people.
