St Barnabas' Church is a special church located in Dulwich, a part of London. It serves as the main church for the local area, known as a parish. The church is named after Barnabas, who was one of the early followers of Jesus.
The first church building was constructed between 1892 and 1895. It became the parish church for the new Parish of Dulwich. Today, this parish is called the Parish of St Barnabas with Christ's Chapel, Dulwich. St Barnabas' Church is one of two churches in this parish.
Sadly, the original church was destroyed by a fire on December 7, 1992. The damaged parts were taken down in early 1993. A new church was then built between 1995 and 1996. It was designed by an American architecture company called HOK. The beautiful stained glass windows inside the church were created by Caroline Swash. She received help from Arts Council England to make them.
