St Gabriel's, Cricklewood is an Anglican church located in Cricklewood, a part of London, United Kingdom. It is a place where people gather for worship and community activities. The church has connections with other Christian groups like New Wine and Holy Trinity Brompton Church.

History of St Gabriel's Church

The first Church of England service in Cricklewood happened in 1891. It was led by Rev George Marsh Clibborn. This first meeting took place in a milliner's shop. Later, services were held in a local school room.

Early Buildings

In 1891, a special building called the 'Iron Church' was put up. It was built where St Gabriel's Church stands today. This Iron Church opened for worship in the same year. A new, bigger church was built next to the Iron Church. It opened its doors in 1897. More building work was finished by 1906.

Church Halls

A large church hall was built on Anson Road. After the Second World War, this hall was sold to the local council. The council used it for community activities. Later, the council sold the building to another group. Today, the church has a smaller hall. It is located next to the old one, on Chichele Road.

Church Organ

St Gabriel's Church used to have a special organ. It was a Walker organ, built after the war. Many organists played it, including Brian Bromley and Alan Harverson. Many choirs, like the Linden Singers, also used it. The organ has since been moved. This created more space inside the church.

Location and Leadership

The church is near Willesden Green tube station. It is in an area with many homes and different cultures. The current vicar, who leads the church, is James Yeates. He started working at St Gabriel's in January 2020. Before him, Jane Morris was the vicar. She retired in 2018.
