A Look Back: History of the Church
How Old Is This Building?
The church building stands at the corner of Friern Barnet Lane and Friary Road. It's very old, with parts dating back to the Middle Ages. There's even a small piece from the Norman times, like a doorway that has been repaired many times.
Rebuilding and Design
Most of the church you see today was rebuilt in 1853. Two architects, Edward and William Habershon, designed the new parts. The church has a main hall called a nave, a special area for the altar called a chancel, and a side section known as a south aisle. It also has a porch, a vestry (a room for clergy), and a tower with a pointy top called a spire. The outside walls are made of flint stone, with special stone details.
Remembering Heroes
In the churchyard, there is a special monument. It's called the Friern Barnet Parishioners War Memorial. This memorial helps people remember those from the area who served in wars.
