A Look at the Church's History

When Was the Church Built?

The journey of Stanborough Park Church began a long time ago. Its first stone was placed on November 14, 1927. The church was officially opened and dedicated on July 22, 1928. W. H. Meredith, who was the president of the British Union Conference at that time, led the dedication ceremony.

The Stanborough Park Area

Stanborough Park was a very important place even before the church was built. It was home to several key Adventist organizations. These included the main offices for the British Union Conference, a food factory called Granose Foods, and a printing company known as Stanborough Press. There was also a Bible school called the Voice of Prophecy and Stanborough College. This college was a school for religious studies. Later, the college moved, and its old building became Stanborough School. The park also had a health center called the Stanborough Hydro Sanatorium.

Who Helped Build the Church?

Dr. Rubel, who worked at the sanatorium, was a big supporter of building the church. He helped make sure the church project moved forward.

Growing the Community

Over the years, Stanborough Park Church helped start other churches in nearby towns. In 1974, it helped create a church group in Rickmansworth. Then, in 1979, it helped establish the church in St. Albans.

Adding More Space

In 2001, the church expanded its facilities. The Stanborough Centre was built, adding four more halls. This gave the church more space for its many activities.
