History of Stark Candy
Early Years and Growth
The Stark Candy Company began its journey in 1939. Its founder, Howard B. Stark, aimed to create delicious treats for everyone. The company quickly became known for its wide range of candies. People loved their unique flavors and fun shapes.
Moving to Pewaukee
In 1960, the company decided to move its main operations. They left Milwaukee and set up their plant in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. This move helped the company grow even more. It allowed them to make more candy for their fans.
Becoming Part of Necco
Years later, in 1988, a big change happened. The Stark Candy Company was bought by its rival, Necco. Necco took over the production of Stark's popular candies. This meant that Stark Candy was no longer an independent company.
The End of an Era
Sadly, the Stark Candy plant eventually closed down. In 2008, Necco announced that the Pewaukee factory would shut its doors. This marked the end of the Stark Candy Company's long history.
Discontinued Candy Raisins
One of the most talked-about changes after Necco bought Stark was the end of candy raisins. These chewy treats were a favorite for many. When they were stopped, many customers were very upset. This showed how much people loved Stark's original candies.
