Stefano Delle Chiaie (born September 13, 1936, in Caserta, Italy – died September 10, 2019, in Rome) was an Italian political figure. He was known for starting several political groups, including Avanguardia Nazionale and Lega Nazionalpopolare. He was also a member of Ordine Nuovo. He was sometimes called "il caccola," which is Roman slang for "shorty," because he was not very tall. However, he said the nickname actually came from how young he was when he first got involved in politics at age 14, joining the Italian Social Movement (MSI).

Stefano Delle Chiaie: A Political Figure

Early Political Life in Italy

Stefano Delle Chiaie started his political journey as a member of the Italian Social Movement (MSI), a political party formed after World War II. He believed in taking political action directly, rather than focusing only on elections. Because of this, he left the MSI in 1958.

After leaving the MSI, he helped create the Centri Studi Ordine Nuovo and then formed a small group called Gruppi di Azione Rivoluzionari (GAR) in the late 1950s. He was involved in various political activities, such as protesting against the visit of Dwight D. Eisenhower to Italy and opposing members of the Italian Communist Party. Even early on, he built connections with international political figures, like Konrad Windisch from Austria, who led a group called Kameradschaftsring Nationaler Jugendverbände.

Founding National Vanguard

In 1960, Stefano Delle Chiaie created a new group called the National Vanguard ("Avanguardia Nazionale"). This group was focused on street-level political actions. Around this time, he also became connected with a private group known as the P2 Masonic Lodge.

From 1962 to 1964, he worked for an Italian information service. His job was to observe and understand left-wing political demonstrations.

Stefano Delle Chiaie became a close associate of Junio Valerio Borghese. He was connected to a political plan known as the Golpe Borghese, but he was not found responsible for it because he was in Barcelona at the time.

In 1991, he founded another political movement called Lega Nazionalpopolare. This group had limited success in the Italian national elections that year.

International Connections and Activities

Stefano Delle Chiaie was known for his international activities. In 1979, he started a political magazine called Confidentiel in Paris, France. This magazine was also published in Italy and Spain before it stopped in 1981.

He was also known by several other names, including Er Caccola, Alfa, Topigigio, and Alfredo Di Stéfano. He spent a lot of his time working in Latin America.

Delle Chiaie was involved with an organization called "Aginter Press", which was founded in Salazar's Portugal in 1965.

After helping Junio Valerio Borghese during his 1970 political plan in Italy, Delle Chiaie went to Spain. There, he met with people who would later be part of the GAL paramilitary group. He was present at the Ezeiza massacre in Argentina in 1973, which was a violent political event.

In 1975, he met with DINA agent Michael Townley to discuss a political plan involving Chilean Christian Democrat Bernardo Leighton. In 1976, he participated in the Montejurra Incidents in Spain, which were political clashes, before moving to Latin America.

He worked with various governments and political groups in South America. Investigations showed he worked with Pinochet's political police (DINA), the Argentine Anticommunist Alliance (Triple A), and Hugo Banzer's government in Bolivia.

Delle Chiaie met with Pinochet in Madrid in 1975 during Franco's funeral. This meeting marked the beginning of his involvement with the Chilean government and his part in a network of political cooperation known as Operation Condor.

He also met with Abdullah Çatlı, a member of the Turkish "Grey Wolves" group, in Latin America and Miami in 1982.

In 1997, during a hearing, Stefano Delle Chiaie spoke about a "black political International" and his hopes for an "international revolution." He mentioned the World Anticommunist League but said he left it after attending a meeting in Paraguay, claiming it was connected to another intelligence agency. He only admitted to being part of the New European Order (NOE) organization.
