Stella is a small place in Calloway County, Kentucky, United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city. It doesn't have its own local government.
History of Stella
Stella was first known by a different name: Goshen. This name came from the local Methodist church, which was called Goshen Methodist Church.
How Stella Got Its Name
The name changed when a post office opened there. On February 2, 1895, the community needed a new name for its post office. They decided to call it Stella. The name Stella might have come from the daughter of Mr. Scarborough, who gave the land for the post office. Or, it could have been named after the daughter of Mr. Waterfield, who owned a local store.
The Post Office
The post office in Stella didn't stay open for very long. It closed down in 1904. Even though the post office is gone, some people still call the area Goshen. This is because the Goshen Methodist Church is still an important part of the community today.
