About Stepfanie Kramer

Stepfanie Kramer was born and grew up in Los Angeles, California.

Her Acting Career

Stepfanie Kramer started acting in the late 1970s. This was while she was still in school. She appeared as a guest star in many TV shows. Some of these include Starsky & Hutch, Dynasty, and Knots Landing.

Kramer finished her studies at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts/West. Later, she even taught there as a guest instructor. In 1983, she starred in the TV show We Got It Made.

Her biggest acting chance came in 1984. She got a main role in the TV series Hunter. This show was created by Stephen J. Cannell. After a tricky start, Hunter became very popular around the world. It ran for seven seasons. Stepfanie Kramer was in six of these seasons. She appeared in 130 episodes of the show. In 1989, she told Jay Leno that she did not expect the show to last so long.

Her Music Career

In 1986, Stepfanie Kramer shared that she was working on a rock album. She was working with composer Mike Post. He wrote music for Hunter. She hoped to release the album the next year. However, this did not happen.

In 1990, Kramer announced she was leaving Hunter. Some news reports said it was to focus on her music. But Kramer said in an interview, "I have been lucky to act, write, and direct on Hunter. It is time for me to move to the next part of my life."

Soon after leaving Hunter, she started recording an album in England. She worked with producer Nils Lofgren. But this album was also never released. In 1992, Kramer got married and moved to Colorado. Two years later, she had a daughter.

She kept writing music and acting in TV movies and independent films. Stepfanie is a trained mezzo soprano singer. She showed her singing skills on some Hunter episodes. She also sang on Bob Hope TV specials.

Stepfanie Kramer's first album, One Dream, came out on October 12, 1999. This album has ten songs for adults. Most of these songs were written by Kramer herself. Her second album, The Great American Song Book, was released in 2008. On this album, Kramer sings 14 classic songs. These were recorded live during her one-woman show. She performs this show in different places across the country. In 2008, she represented the U.S. at an International Music Festival in Mexico. As a singer, she has performed all over the world.

Later Acting Roles

Kramer has continued to act. After leaving Hunter, she appeared in several TV shows and movies. Some of her notable movie projects include Twin Sisters (1992) and The Cutting Edge: Going for the Gold (2006).

She also played Dee Dee McCall again in two Hunter TV movies. These were released in 2002 and 2003. Because these movies were popular, NBC tried to bring the Hunter TV show back. But the new show in 2003 was canceled after only nine episodes.

Kramer has also worked on writing projects. She teamed up with writer David Chisolm to write movies. She also worked with novelist Jann Arrington Wolcott to write short stories. Kramer has also done a book reading for the musical A Twist of Fate in New York. She was also a special guest in the Los Angeles stage show Menopause The Musical.
